Hey, I’m Tamara!
We are a space where Black women can celebrate our adventures, share our stories, and find community. Even when we’re traveling on our own. A certified yoga teacher, experienced solo traveler, and Black feminist scholar, I bring more than two decades of experience blending cultural insight, embodied practice, and a deep commitment to equity, wellness, and representation.
I was born in Jacksonville but raised up and down the East Coast. Change was constant, and I learned early how to be comfortable in my own company, how to make a home out of curiosity. That curiosity, for everyday rhythms and unspoken norms, has shaped every part of my life and sparked a lifelong love of travel.
With over $1 trillion in collective buying power, leadership in household financial decisions, and growing engagement in self-care and travel, Black women are an undeniable economic force and cultural vanguard in the modern travel economy. Yet the industry has yet to fully recognize or value our power.
Travel, for me, is about becoming — about learning who I am when no one’s watching. That belief is at the heart of Alone Together designed to connect us globally. Because we may travel solo, but we never travel alone.
FROM THE ROAD
Notes Along The Way
My first solo trip wasn’t glamorous — it was cold, quiet, and absolutely life-changing. London, 2010: the moment I realized that being alone doesn’t mean being lonely.

You Might Be
Wondering
-
Alone Tgthr is a solo travel community for Black women who want the freedom of traveling on their own with the option to connect once they arrive. There are no group trips or shared itineraries — just support, resources, and casual meetups if you want them.
-
No. You book your own trip and travel independently. Alone Tgthr exists to support you and offer optional meetups at your destination — never required.
-
Meetups are casual and opt-in. Think dinner, coffee, or a short hang with other Black women who happen to be in the same city at the same time. You decide if and when you join.
-
Safety is a top priority. The community is moderated, and we provide destination-specific safety tips and guidance designed with Black women in mind. You always control how much you share and how you engage.
-
Not at all. Some members come just for the resources, destination guides, and peace of mind. Others love meeting up. Both ways are welcome.
-
Inside the community, you’ll find destination hubs, real-time check-ins, travel resources, and other members who may be traveling nearby — so you never feel like you’re figuring things out alone.
